The JWCC Heath Center Art Gallery is hosting Quincy Artist Guild in an art show beginning Tuesday, September 28, with an opening reception from 5-7 pm that evening. The community is invited to the reception to view artwork and meet the artists. Handmade greeting cards will be available for purchase during the reception. Visitors will also learn about the group and how to become a member.

The group will have more than 10 artists displaying paintings in watercolor, oil, and pastels. Some pieces will be for sale. The show is open through Friday, November 19.

The gallery is open Monday-Thursday from 8 am-5 pm and Friday from 8 am to 12 pm. Exhibits are free and open to the public. Masks must be worn on campus.

If you are an artist or have always wanted to be one, the Quincy Artists’ Guild will welcome you to become a member and share the love of painting, sketching, print making, ceramics, jewelry and more! The Guild meets every Monday morning at 9 am in the Cheryl Loatsch Studio (334 S. 48th St.) to create artwork and share and learn new techniques. Membership is $20 a year. The group hosts one or two demonstrations a month (by members and occasionally by an art professional) and takes a yearly trip by Amtrak to the Art Institute in Chicago. The group also visits museums and galleries. Members have exhibited their artwork in the Art Center’s annual Members’ Exhibit and Mary S. Oakley-Lee Lindsay Artist Showcase. To learn more about Quincy Artist Guild, please call Dr. Zakiah S. Ali, president, at 217-440-3331.

To purchase artwork or for more information, contact Jenna Seaborn, JWCC Gallery Curator, at jseaborn@jwcc.edu or call 217-653-3246.
