February 19, 2026

On Wednesday, February 18, the John Wood Community College Board of Trustees granted tenure to three faculty members. Full-time faculty members receiving tenure effective for the 2026-27 academic year are the following:

Laura Hubbard – Natural Sciences and Engineering Instructor

Hubbard is praised for her ability to deliver instruction in a variety of learning platforms – including hybrid, online, and face-to-face formats – to meet students where they are and ensure that every learner has an opportunity to succeed. She is also noted for her engaging teaching methods, inclusiveness and compassion, and making the College environment one where every student feels valued and supported.

J’Nelle Lee – Business and Computer Science Instructor

Lee has shown professional academic growth while at JWCC and has expanded her teaching ability and is on track to contribute to future economics instruction. She has supported campus engagement initiatives and fosters a positive and supportive campus environment.

John Reinhardt – Business and Computer Science Instructor

Reinhardt has reconfigured and enhanced JWCC’s accounting program and strengthened curriculum alignment with four-year institutions. In the classroom, Reinhardt is committed to experiential learning and student engagement. He is invested in the College mission as shown through his committee work, assessment development, recruitment activities, and advisory group engagement.

Interim President Josh Welker noted that each tenured faculty member brings unique value to JWCC students.

“We are pleased the Board has granted tenure to this latest group of talented and dedicated faculty,” Welker said. “Each instructor approaches the development of students in their own way, yet all are clearly committed to guiding students to successfully complete credentials, transfer, and continue on their career path.”

In other business, the Board:

Recognized outgoing interim President Josh Welker for his final meeting prior to returning to his role of Dean of Business Services and Institutional Effectiveness.

Approved submission of a $5,760 grant to the Dollar General Foundation to cover testing fees for adult education and literacy students.

Approved submission of a $350,000 grant to the Illinois Community College Board to buy advanced manufacturing automation equipment and training services for faculty to deliver related non-credit and credit instruction.

Accepted a bid and award to Peters Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc., for two water-to-air heat pumps for the Student Activity Center.

The next regular meeting of the JWCC Board of Trustees is planned for March 18 at 6 p.m. at the College’s Southeast Education Center in Pittsfield.
