Winners Announced in the JWCC 10th Annual Student Show & Sell

John Wood Community College’s tenth annual Student “Show and Sell” Spring Exhibit in the Heath Center Art Gallery is now through May 13, 2022. The artist reception & awards ceremony was held on April 6. Dr. Steven Soebbing, JWCC Chair of Fine Arts, judged this year’s art show that features numerous pieces of artwork by JWCC students.

The top winners include: Madison Beck (Best in Show, “Urban Building 2”); Eve Olivas (First Place, “Beautifully Rusted”); Riley Frankenhoff (Second Place, “The Female Peer”); and Luke Mittermeyer (Third Place, “Leaden Docks”). The winners received a certificate and cash prize sponsored by the John Wood Community College Foundation Office.

Honorable mentions include Nichola Carter, “Night in a City;” Morgan Frankenhoff, “Girl with a Pearl Earring;” McCartney Lewis, “In Ecstasy;” and Benjamin Bland, “Portrait of the Duke of Urbino.” Ethan Schemerhorn also participated in the art show.

Some pieces will be for sale and students keep the majority of the proceeds to jump start their art and design careers. The college does retain a portion of each sale to enhance the arts education program at JWCC through the Foundation Office.

Prize awards are made possible by generous contributions to the Visual Arts Fund with the JWCC Foundation. The Visual Arts Fund provides support to the JWCC visual arts program and students.
