Walk-in tutoring at John Wood Community College is free of charge for any student needing help with their coursework. Use the Writing Center tab for Writing Center hours and to schedule a virtual appointment.

JWCC Writing Center

The JWCC Writing Center is designed to support students at every stage of the writing process. Whether you’re brainstorming ideas, crafting a thesis statement, fine-tuning your grammar, or seeking feedback on a draft, our experienced tutors are here to help!

Hours of Operation: Fridays 8:00 – 11:00 AM; Room C284

The JWCC Writing Center is available for in-person tutoring only. To get writing help, follow these steps:

  • Schedule an Appointment
    • Although walk-in help is available, having an appointment will reserve a specific time slot during Writing Center hours.
    • Appointments can be made for the for the following times:
      • 8:00, 8:20, 8:40, 9:00, 9:20, 9:40, 10:00, 10:20, 10:40
    • To schedule an appointment, please use the form on this page.
  • Prepare Your Materials
    • Gather all relevant materials, such as your assignment prompt, draft, notes, and any specific questions you have.
  • Attend and Participate in the Session
    • Show up at the scheduled time on the day of your appointment with all relevant materials.
    • Share your thoughts, ask questions, and be open to constructive feedback from the tutor.

If you would like writing help but are unable to meet in person, please use our online writing tutoring service, Brainfuse, which is available through the Tutoring tab through BlazerNet.

Brainfuse - Online tutoring and so much more

Brainfuse is a free service that includes online tutoring and other academic resources.  It is available to all JWCC students and provides 24/7 help in a variety of subjects.  Live help is available, but the hours vary by subject.

All students start with a two-hour limit for tutoring, but if additional time is needed, please contact connected@jwcc.edu.
