Employee Tuition Remission

TUITION & FEE WAIVERS

Faculty members are eligible for up to seven credit hours of paid tuition and fees per academic semester of JWCC credit courses. Each spouse is eligible for tuition (not to include fees) paid for up to a maximum of 15 credit hours per academic semester. Each child dependent is eligible for tuition (not to include fees) paid for up to a maximum of 18 credit hours per academic semester. Courses must be completed with a grade of at least “C”.

Tuition and fees for a non-repeatable course will be waived only once. Non-credit wellness courses offered in the JWCC Student Activity Center may be waived repeatedly.

For non-credit courses or workshops at JWCC, tuition and fees will be waived for regular full-time and part-time employees if required by the employer.

For all employee and dependent tuition waivers, a federal financial aid application must be completed and on file in the Office of Financial Aid prior to requesting a tuition waiver.

TUITION REIMBURSEMENT

A maximum of up to $200 per credit hour for up to nine credit hours per fiscal year for advanced or continuing education for faculty members per year at accredited institutions of higher education. Reimbursement will be made only for those undergraduate courses completed with a grade of “C” or better, or for those graduate level courses with a grade of “B” or better. When a course is not graded, a satisfactory completion must be attained. Requests for tuition reimbursement must be made prior to the start of the course.

COMPUTER PURCHASE LOAN PROGRAM

This program is designed to allow regular full-time employees to purchase or upgrade personal computer (PC), laptop, personal digital assistant (PDA), printers, monitors, scanners, smart phones, and software. The maximum loan available to each individual employee is $2,500.00 interest free or the actual cost of the computer, related equipment, labor and software whichever is less. Repayment of the loan amount may be spread over a maximum of twenty-four (24) months. Payments will be made by bi-weekly payroll deductions. Any online, mail order, or out of district purchase will be reimbursed directly to the employee not paid directly to the vendor.

MICROSOFT OFFICE SITE LICENSE AGREEMENT

This program allows employees to use software from the college on their home computer.

Staff development activities take place throughout the year and are concentrated in areas of personal and professional development.
