Careers and Employment

Accounting is a diverse field of study that offers a wide range of employment opportunities.  John Wood Community College offers a three semester Accounting Certificate designed to prepare students to work in clerical accounting and bookkeeping positions.

Career opportunities typically include accounting clerks and bookkeeping jobs in both public and private accounting settings.  A background in accounting may prepare students for positions in related career fields.  Bookkeepers and accounting clerks can earn from $13 to $20 per hour.  Wages will vary with the area of the country, the employer and the type of work involved.*
