Job Description

The Central/Southern Illinois Synod (ELCA) seeks a Director of Communications. This position supports the Synod (congregations, ministries, and multi-congregation ventures) by connecting and equipping congregations with resources and support and sharing stories of Christ’s work within the synod and through the broader church. This person should demonstrate the technical skills required to execute proficiently the essential functions of the job, including skills in website management, web posting, social media, audio/visual production, digital document creation, graphic design, and familiarity with the software programs associated with these functions. The position is potentially full time, exempt, and would provide benefits (health insurance, retirement fund, vacation, and sick leave). Degree in journalism, English, communications, graphic design, and/or marketing preferred; knowledge and appreciation of Lutheran theology helpful; aptitude in use of web technology and current social media applications necessary.
