Job Title: Educator Licensure Specialist

Employer: Regional Office of Education #1
Reports to: Superintendent
Term of Employment: Salary and work year to be established by the Regional Superintendent.
Evaluation: Depending on the employee’s position and classification, Regional Office of
Education #1 endeavors to review performance annually.
Supervises: Office workers (as assigned)
General Summary: To complete the detail and written work and to coordinate other matters
essential to the efficiency and effectiveness of the administrative supervisor.
To aid and assist Secretary and Bookkeeper. To be a team player.
Role and Responsibilities:
1. Obtains, proofs, and completes various typing tasks, including correspondence, reports,
notices, and recommendations.
2. Fingerprint technician for educators and public
3. Distributes fingerprints to districts
4. Maintains a regular filing system, as well as a set of locked confidential files and processes
incoming correspondence as instructed.
5. Places and receives telephone calls and records messages.
6. Aids and assists secretary/receptionist as needed.
7. Orders and maintains supplies as needed.
8. Performs bookkeeping tasks as directed by Assistant Superintendent.
9. Assists licensure compliance
10. Composes and types correspondence.
11. Receives and delivers interoffice written communications
12. Sort and distribute mail from post office.
13. Cross trains in interoffice tasks.
14. Attends trainings and maintains files and correspondence to and from the Illinois State Board
of Education.
15. Teacher fingerprint scheduling along with, mailing, invoicing, and filing.
16. Annual fingerprint training and visits to schools when requested.
17. Assists with educator licensure inquiries
18. Implements ISP and ISBE regulations as needed

19. Compiles Substitute Packets which include fingerprinting, schedules, maintaining substitute
teacher files and recording information in the State computer system.
20. Annual review to renew certificates and to update files.
21. Balances registration receipts and makes deposit.
22. Updates computer with teacher personnel information.
23. Maintains filing system for teacher certification correspondence
24. Calls teachers whose certificates are not currently registered.
25. Issues and invoices bus driver certificates – initial and refresher trainings.
26. Coordinates bus driver training classes and fingerprinting of drivers and riders
27. Updates bus driver scheduling
28. Helps with work permits, Constitution testing, and Pearson testers when needed.
29. FOIA Officer, maintain log, training and correspondence when needed.
30. Files checks and puts them where they need to go
31. Creates electronic applications for candidates
32. Posts open positions to the ROE website
33. GATA
34. Creates, sends, and tracks Fraud Training
35. Creates and tracks RSSP Performance Reports
36. Notary Republic
37. Add posts to our Social Media account and updates our website
38. Performs other responsibilities as the Regional or Assistant Superintendent assign.
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the
ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
