Job Summary:

Functioning under the Executive Director of Clinical Operations the Clinic Nursing Director is responsible for the supervision of clinical employees of the Memorial Medical Clinics. The Clinic Nursing Director is responsible for ensuring compassionate, effective, and efficient delivery of high quality care while serving as a role model for staff.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  1. Leads development of weekly clinical team schedule and coverage for clinical team call-ins
  2. Approves vacation requests of clinical team members and ensures adequate clinical team coverage for providers
  3. Acts as a resource for other team members and provides them with resources and best practices
  4. Acts as a mentor for new employees to improve employee confidence and ensure competence
  5. Leads regular huddle communications with teams
  6. Completes monthly CLIA lab reviews and coordinates with Clinic Outlying Nursing Team Coordinator
  7. Acts as a bridge between Clinic Administration and staff by communicating any issues or concerns from staff back to Clinic Admin Team and relaying updates and reminders from Clinic Admin Team to staff.
  8. Maintains adequate supplies
  9. Performs audits as assigned by Clinic Administration, such as hand hygiene audits, medication expiration dates, POCT testing processes, rooming and discharge checklists
  10. Participates in Rural Health Clinic & Joint Commission mock surveys with team members
  11. Coordinates with Executive Director of Clinic Operations to select, mentor, motivate and direct development and evaluation of the clinical staff.  Trains, orients, and evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions of the MMC clinical staff.
  12. Helps track quality improvement indicators and other information concerning services and care to ensure that resources are available to provide quality services and on-time performance.
  13. Devise health related educational programs for clinical and non-clinical staff in collaboration with the Director of Education at Memorial Hospital and Executive Director of Clinic Operations.
  14. Participates in the annual business planning and budget process
  15. Helps Executive Director of Clinic Operations develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health care services.
  16. Establishes areas of responsibility and assignment with the clinical staff such as ordering and stocking supplies, maintaining the drug logs and sample medication closets, nurse to provider ratio’s and assignment, keeping a uniform medical record with standard nursing abbreviations, notes and forms.
  17. Reviews and evaluates reports such as patient satisfaction surveys, budget reports and other information with the Executive Director of Clinic Operations and helps to coordinate quality improvement and patient satisfaction activities concerning the care of patients, health and safety conditions and equipment to improve quality and utilization of health care services at all MMC sites.
  18. Resolves staff or provider office issues when needed with the assistance of the Executive Director of Clinic Operations.
  19. Works with the Memorial Hospital QI/Risk Manager and the Executive Director of Clinic Operations in reporting and implementing dashboard indicators and preparation and maintain of all clinical survey requirements.
  20. Is involved with the agenda items of the meetings with staff of all the MMC sites to review performance goals and objectives.
  21. Will monitor the flow and time elements of the patient through the process of a scheduled and non-scheduled appointment working with the Executive Director of Clinic Operations. Will make sure the patient is flowing through the process to allow appropriate care and maintain a productive schedule for the provider. Will provide nursing care for patients only as needed.
  22. Participates in clinical conferences, workshops, seminars and related forums. Assist in security, disaster, emergency and planning procedure, internally and community wide.
  23. Coordinates with Administrative Assistant on biweekly payroll needs for clinical staff.

Education Requirements:

  1. Valid IL License as a Registered Nurse.
