Job Description

This is a temporary summer position for June 2 to July 3, 2024. Upward Bound is a federally funded educational opportunity program that prepares eligible high school students to enter and succeed in post-secondary education.  The six-week summer program includes academic, cultural, and recreational activities.

 

Evening Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the well-being of approximately 20 high school students entering grades 10-12. The Evening Supervisor will be considered part of the administrative team, live in the dormitory to provide supervision for students and Resident Assistants, and be responsible for ensuring the completion of student documentation of all activities and contacts. This includes overseeing evening activities, meals, field trips, leadership development, and residence life programming. Applicants must be willing to interact and make a positive impact and demonstrate leadership to high school students. This position is also responsible for ensuring Resident Assistants are following UB policies and procedures, and to consult with JWCC Upward Bound staff members as needed to assist with individual student and Resident Assistant needs.

 

The Evening Supervisor will work the evening shift from approximately 4:00 pm to 8:30 am from Monday evening to Friday morning (with the addition of working the evening of move-in night at Quincy University.)

 

The Evening Supervisor will be required to attend training sessions, prior to working with students. The Evening Supervisor could potentially travel with students and staff for team building activities, during the first week of the program. The Evening Supervisor, Resident Assistants, and students will be housed at Quincy University for four weeks.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must be a college sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate with a strong academic record and a valid driver’s license. Candidate must successfully pass a criminal background check.

 

Preference will be given to candidates that are an example of the target population; have with experience working with low-income, first-generation students; or have experience as a residential assistant or camp counselor.

 

COMPENSATION

Salary will be a stipend of $2500 for six weeks.
