The John Wood Community College Board of Trustees has announced it will accept internal and external applicants for the position of Interim President through May 9, 2025.

Two members of the Board will screen candidates and Trustees expect to name the individual during open session at the May 21, 2025, board meeting. If necessary to allow for a more complete process, the Board may consider a special meeting after the May 21 date to make the announcement.

Current JWCC President, Dr. Bryan Renfro, recently accepted the position of Chancellor of Eastern Iowa Community Colleges based in Davenport, Iowa. His last day at JWCC is June 30, 2025.

Trustees plan for the interim post to run from July 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025. This period will allow the Board to consider next steps to select JWCC’s eighth President.

“Providing the opportunity for internal and external applicants allows the Board to find the best leader to serve the College until a new President is engaged,” JWCC Board Chair Bob Rhea shared. “We have a strong leadership team in place that is highly capable of directing the college as we thoughtfully consider the best approach to identify JWCC’s next leader. Our priority remains supporting our students, faculty and the broader community while building on the momentum Dr. Renfro helped create.”
