Mr. John Wood Pageant to Highlight JWCC Homecoming Festivities

John Wood Community College’s Student Government Association will host the seventh annual Homecoming Week, February 24 through February 29. The fourth annual Mr. John Wood Pageant will highlight the week at 6:30 p.m. in the Mary Ellen Orr Auditorium on Friday, February 28.

During the pageant, contestants will be judged in sportswear, talent and formal wear categories. The top three contestants will also take part in an on-stage interview. All gentlemen will compete for the Mr. John Wood Title, People’s Choice, and Mr. Congeniality. Contestants include Drew Figge, Luke Janssen, Clayton Dyer, Bryce Bergman, Parker Arrowsmith, Gio Garcia, Brennen Provine, Isaac Doughart- Wood, Todd Klingele, and Darius Thornton. Emcees are Mary Farmer and Amelia Smith.

Admission to the pageant will be $2 and the event is open to the public. Concessions will also be available for purchase. A People’s Choice award will be presented based on which contestant raises the most money during the event. All proceeds will benefit Quanada. The pageant is sponsored by Schuecking’s Men’s Wear.

Additional homecoming activities will be held throughout the week, including a hypnosis show performed by former JWCC student Reed Tate. On Saturday, February 29, the women’s basketball team will host Illinois Central College at 1 p.m. The men’s basketball team will play ICC at 3 p.m. The JWCC Alumnus of the Year will be announced during half-time of the men’s game. Both games will be held in the Student Activity Center.
