The Quincy Children’s Museum, in collaboration with John Wood Community College, will officially open the “Discovery Trail” story walk as a feature within JWCC’s Spring Valley Trails on Sunday, October 22, from 1-3 p.m.  The feature is a leisurely, one-mile interactive nature walk that includes multiple stops for children and families to read and participate in activities on the trail. The first feature will be pages from “Henry and His Manners,” a book by Quincyan Tracy Schlepphorst with illustrations by Charlie Marth.

A ribbon-cutting will take place at 1 p.m. followed by a walk through the trail and a presentation will take place at 1:45 p.m.

The Discovery Trail will change periodically and will include stories, activities, challenges, artwork, and other surprises.   Families are encouraged to talk, walk, and discover nature and other activities and share pictures of the experience on social media with #qcmdiscoverytrail.

The Discovery Trail is located on the southeast corner of the JWCC Quincy campus at 48th and Harrison.  The trail head is near the greenhouse located behind JWCC’s buildings.  The public is welcome to attend the opening and the trails are open to the public year-round.
